Second hand items has its value!
Shopaholics like me do regret over certain purchases at times. Every once in a while, you notice that some completely unutilized handbags, clothes, accessories are just not your cup of tea at a second thought (I always ended up wondering what made me fallen into them at first sight). You are then often struggled between keeping them or getting rid of them, and apparently throwing them away brings you immense guilty. It happens that I stumbled upon the Carousell App - the virtual marketplace that lets you buy & sell everything from clothing, accessories, to furniture, luxury goods and even cars.
Steps are easy and straightforward and once started, it motivates you to evaluate the worthiness of each item. Delay no more, let's get started before the dust accumulates.
- Open an account on Carousell through connecting with your social media or setting up with your email account, depending on if you wish to have your items selling discreetly or not (as connecting accounts reveal your profile)
- Start with taking nice snaps of any unwanted items; nice snaps meaning a very lifestyle angle of the products that show it is still in perfect condition
- Add a new listing with straightforward product names in bilingual to be easily searchable and include all details like the listing price, the condition of the product, the trading method of whether in person or by post
- Some little tips with the listing price: if you intend to mail it, be reminded to include the postage cost in the listing price and always allow some buffer for the buyer to bargain for a little 20-30% discount. Benchmark with other products by doing a quick research on the app rather than your own intuition of its value (it may mean a lot to you personally but hey it's a free market out there)
- Once published, keep a close weekly monitoring of the statistics of the impressions and clicks. Clicks indicate the actual interest that your viewers have which in turn brings in Chats
- One way that oftens works for me in order to promote the listing without extra cost is to rename the listing name from time to time to gain more exposure
- Usually homeware, electronics and luxury goods work best in getting responses.
- The negotiation process is fairly simple when the buyer places an offer where you can directly accept her offer if reasonable, and to progress from there the trading location where you can mutually agree on a date and time
- Once the product is sold and handed over, change the status to Sold so there is no further enquiry and also allowing buyer to give you comments in terms of the production condition, transaction smoothness etc.
I believe you will want to start reviewing what items should be resellable right away to give you some instant pocket money. By picking up such habit, you create space for belongings more worthwhile!
